At a loss about what to get the vampire on your list?  Chloe Neill chimes in with a fabulous list of gifts that don't bite, even if their recipients do!

A VAMPIRE'S HOLIDAY WISH LIST

A couple of weeks ago, the fabulous readers over at my Yahoo boards
were offering up holiday gift suggestions for the characters in my Chicagoland Vampires series.  That got me thinking--what's an appropriate gift for the vampire on your holiday list? Here are some ideas!

1. Sunscreen: I think this one speaks for itself.

2. MP3 Player: Vampires spend a lot of time unconscious, especially in the summertime when the days are long and the nights are short. An MP3 player--preloaded with Gothy goodness--will keep them occupied.

3. Corset and blood-red high heels: There are few vampires (Merit excluded) who don't appreciate the appeal of a fabulous corset and pair of blood-red high heels. What modern vampire doesn't enjoy the chance to play sexy she-vamp?

4. "Property of Vampire" stickers:  Since vampires do spend so much time unconscious/undead/underground, help them protect their belongings by gifting some "property of vampire" labels.

5. Kevlar: No one likes a stake through the heart, least of all vampires. Offer up a Kevlar vest to keep the immortal heart beating.

6. Perfume-of-the-Month Club {
http://www.club-offers.com/perfume-emporium/mini-perfume/}: If your resident vampire falls into the "undead" category, a little freshening up probably isn't a bad idea. Hold off the "eau de undead" by ensuring they receive a new bottle of perfume or cologne each month.

7. UV Resistant Clothing: Clothes that help repel UV rays
could come in handy in the event your vamp needs to make a daytime run. 8. Subscription to "Blood": Help the vampire in your life stay up to date on the latest hematological research with a subscription to the medical journal Blood.

9. Vampire Dating Guide:  It can be hard to meet that special someone when sunlight fries you to ashes. So give your undead friend a dating guide
to help them avoid the pitfalls of fanged courtship.

10. Angel: Seasons One - Five
: David Boreanaz + Vampire hero. 'Nuff said.

Hope these ideas are helpful! Best wishes for a safe, happy and stake-free holiday!

Can't get warm. I'm wrapped in a thermo blanket (thank god for company equipment!) that keeps my feet cozy but my fingers are still stiff and cold. *argh*

I'm a low blood pressure person anyway and when it gets as cold as these days, I'm constantly shivering. No fun at all.

As I already told [info]obsessed_psyco, I spent the night under three blankets ([info]lorettakay's awesome blanket is love ♥) and with two pair of socks. I went to work with pelted leather boots even though the office got heaters... >_<

I love the snow, I really do. *nods* Afterall our company offers so-called Winter Service (which means we make sure the sidewalk infront of your house as well as any other walk/space you want to be snow-free, gets actually to be snow-free) and it's fun to shovel snow in the early monring hours when nobody's around. ^^

But these freezy temperatures are a bit much. *craves hot chocolate*

So as the year draws to a close, I thought I might talk about the television I have watched during it, and hear about other people's television. I have noticed that my year's viewing has a common theme - one of my favourite themes. Sensible Girls, and the Romantic Boys Who Love Them.

One thing I watched was the second season of Merlin. I have written up my thoughts on season one Merlin here.

MERLIN SEASON TWO

ARTHUR: My new contract states I must be shirtless at least once an episode.
GWEN: Now I am going to be a love interest, I am looking extremely foxy in several new gowns. I am never shirtless, because this is the BBC.
MERLIN: Nobody fed me over the summer, and I am feeling weak.
MORGANA: Nobody gave me any lines for the upcoming season, and I am feeling evil.

Merlin Season Two, continued )

Since I am devoted to L.J. Smith, who at sixteen was my Twilight, I was certain to watch The Vampire Diaries. I saw the pilot at Comic Con, and was hugely delighted to see that the hero and heroine wrote their sad, sad diaries sadly in sync.

Then I saw more, and I have been most excellently pleased by it!

Vampire Diaries so far )

My flatmates and I bought the box set of Bones and watched it together, drinking cups of hot chocolate with ice-cream in them.

SARAH: I dunno. I love Partners Who Fight Crime an awful lot, but I'm just not sure I can take FBI Agent Angel.
DR BRENNAN: I am a lady who would rather poke around in human soup with bones floating in it than think about her feelings! Also I enjoy casual relationships and am bad at being charming.
FBI AGENT ANGEL: I am pretty good at being charming, and I am in touch with my feelings. I am not as smart as you but I am totally comfortable with not being a crazy genius!
DR BRENNAN AND FBI AGENT ANGEL: Together we goofily fight crime.
SARAH: The truest loves are found through goofily fighting crime. NEXT BOX SET PLEASE.

In summary, I love Sensible Girls and the Romantic Boys Who Love Them. I also love things that are kind of ridiculous. What kind of thing do you love?

Roast beef and Yorkshire pudding is my absolute favorite meal (my grandfather was English), so I know whose house to visit next year!  Jasmine Haynes/Jennifer Skully/JB Skully takes time out from her multiple personalities <g> and her holiday huddle to share some wonderful traditions (and a great recipe).  Enjoy!

Holiday Traditions with Jasmine Haynes

Here’s how my holiday season works.  My two brothers live back East, so my mom alternates years between the daughters and the sons, meaning, one year my sister and I get Thanksgiving with her, and the next year we, the girls, get Christmas.  This year our turn was Thanksgiving, so we’re packaging her up and shipping her off today.  But on Saturday we had a wonderful celebration.  Our feast was turducken (it’s a roll of turkey, duck and chicken with sausage stuffing in the middle), roast potatoes, broccoli and Hot Chocolate pudding for dessert (YUM!).  Now, I have to admit we all agreed that next year we’ll go back to the traditional roast beef and Yorkshire pudding and skip the turducken.  Did I tell you Mom is British?  Yep, and a very proper English lady at that.  Our traditional meal when I was a kid always included Yorkshire Pudding.  It’s not really a pudding like it sounds, but more like a popover.  And you fill it with gravy made from the meat drippings.  To die for.  I always loved the hot chocolate pudding, too.  It’s like a brownie with a hot fudge sauce.  Add a dollop of whipped cream, mmm.  Love it!  The other traditional dessert we often have is English Trifle.  Loads of whipped cream, and a spike to it as well, thanks to the sherry.  Today I’m going to share my mother’s recipe for English trifle with you.

Mom’s English Trifle

            2 packages lady finger cakes

            Raspberry jam as needed

            4 to 6 T sherry

            2 bananas sliced

            1 package thick custard

            2 half pints whipping cream

Place lady fingers around edge and center of dessert bowl, covering the whole bowl.  Spread raspberry jam over top of cake (thin layer to individual liking).  Drizzle sherry on top to soak into cake.  Layer bananas on top of cake and sherry.  Make thick custard from package and spread over bananas and cake.  Whip cream and top cooled custard.

Okay, Mom says “drizzle” but let me tell you, she can be very liberal with the sherry, LOL!

Any traditional recipes you’d like to share?

I’ve also got my blog up http://jasminehaynes.blogspot.com/ so feel free to pop over there and check out Mom’s recipe for Hot Chocolate Pudding, too!

Happy Holidays everyone!!!!  And thanks for having me, Lucienne!

What do I get when I combine two of my favorite things - Christmas music and fandom? A multi-fandom Christmas fanvid! It's "All I Want for Christmas is You" by Mariah Carey and holiday episodes of pretty much all my fandoms ever. In alphabetical order, they are: 30 Rock, The Big Bang Theory, Bones, Chuck, Community, ER, Friends, Gilmore Girls, How I Met Your Mother, Modern Family, The Office, Parks & Recreation, Psych, Pushing Daisies, Scrubs, The West Wing, and The X-Files. (Though I must admit, it's really heavy on the Bones clips. I couldn't help it! No one does Christmas like Bones!) So, spoilers for all these shows, basically, including this year's holiday episodes. A couple clips are just from winter-themed eps, and one is from a New Year's ep, but I figured it was close enough.

Higher-quality download (WMV format, 37.5 MB) - Mediafire

Happy holidays, fandom! Hope you enjoy! Also, comments = best Christmas present ever. Please?

Title:  For You to Find Out

Spoilers:  Season 4:  The Perfect Pieces in the Purple Pond

Rating:  T, just to be safe.

Disclaimer:  Do not own.

Summary:  He told her it was for him to know, and her to find out.  She does, several years later.  Short drabble, B&B.

Notes:  I was Christmas shopping recently when I just casually walked through the TV on DVD section at Target, to find that—miracle of miracles!—Bones Season 4 was on sale.  So I bought it.  And now, when I should be studying for a Constitutional Law class that I have a final in on Monday, I am watching the entire set.  The scene that is mentioned in this piece just got the ball rolling.  Any errors are mine, as I took twenty minutes to write it before posting.

Hey eveyone,

So, maybe it's just the angsty teenager inside of me or something, but lately I've been in the mood for a teenage Bones Fic. Does anybody know of any decent ones? If you could maybe point me in the right direction of one, either here or at FF.net, it doesn't really matter. I've just had a craving for one, I guess.

Thanks, guys :)

Meant to post this earlier today but I got busy doing other things. Some of you will have seen this, since I re-Tweeted my publisher's post on it Friday night, but for those of you who haven't, here is the trailer for FIRST DROP OF CRIMSON. Hope you enjoy it! I also received an early Christmas present from Romantic Times when reviewer Jill Smith had this to say about FIRST DROP OF CRIMSON: "Book by book, Frost builds her reputation as an author who delivers only the best." RT gave FDOC a Top Pick rating, too. Needless to say, I am extremely flattered by both the comment and the rating :).

(Note: the trailer has sound, so if you're browsing at work and don't want to get caught, turn your volume down ;-).

If for some reason the embed code is acting up, here's a link to the trailer here:

http://www.youtube.com/user/JeanieneFrost#p/a/u/0/k1zhJysS3mQ

Also, I uploaded a few cool fan-made trailers up on my Favorites page on YouTube, which you can check out here. Aren't they neat?:

http://www.youtube.com/user/JeanieneFrost#p/f

And in more Christmas-came-early news, I just found out that Germany bought translation rights for FIRST DROP OF CRIMSON, ETERNAL KISS OF DARKNESS, and Cat & Bones # 5. A lot of good things happened in 2009, but there were some tough knocks, too - though I usually don't blog about those. Everyone has enough of their own stresses without me piling on mine :) So this was a very nice way to close out the year, and of course, it wouldn't have happened without reader support. Once again, thanks so much!
